New Display Rack

I picked up a great display rack at Borders fixture sale.  Isn't this what most people have in their living room?  Playing around with the layout as I am doing a quilt show in less than two weeks.  Thrilled to have picked up this fixture, but so sad about Borders going out of business.

Yummies

Finally feel like I have a good set of basics for the store.  Some different rainblow blends of diffent values, some basic gradations and the obvious two parent color blends.  Since I feel like I have the basics down, now it's time to play with the fun stuff!

I dyed this set of fabric in gradations from Emerald Green to Grape.  Oh it is so lovely I could eat it!  I have name it "Vineyard" as I think that is appropriate with the purprles and greens.

I have also had a chance to play with some of the art cloth pieces I have started.  This is one I finished the other day also.  It is cotton/ bamboo.  Dyed with a tan mix, circles printed with thickened dye in burgundy using a thermofax screen, then overdyed with green.  The colors in this are so organic!  This is a one yard piece, the rings are about 5 1/2" in diameter.

I wish I had more time to play this weekend, but house projects await...

Remeber to visit my store, where many of these fabrics can be found for sale!

Almost there!

Well the webiste is fully functional the store is open!  Still a few products to add, but close enough!

On a light note, I was able to get away with some gals from my quilt bee and go to Michigan UP where one of them has a cabin.  It was a great weekend, relaxing (although my husband who was home with the kids would disagree about the relaxing part...) and absolutely beautiful.  The cabin was on the lake. Everything was so picture-esque.  We had good fun, food, and fellowship.  And a bunch of sewing done!

Getting it all set up

Welcome to the Free Spirit Quilting Blog!

I am a quilter, both traditional and contemporary, a fabric dyer, and a textile surface design addict. Here is where I will share a glimpse into my world of experimentation with different products and media.

For the past couple of weeks I have been slogging away at getting my online store going.  I have spent more time on the computer than I ever dreamed of.  Thank you to Squirrelcart for providing an affordable user friendly shopping cart software.

Stay tuned for more to come...
